FYI New Beginnings Counseling Founder Dr. Mary Ann Sartori heard a speaker say, “Life can be a nightmare or an adventure, the choice is yours.” Over the years, she has learned to choose the adventures.
What choices will you make as you look for new beginnings?
In the summer of 1995, Mary Ann moved from Louisiana, to Texas, following a divorce. She brought with her three athletic, academic, and, seemingly, well adjusted adolescent children. Shortly, after settling into the area, her children began to struggle academically and behaviorally. They had difficulty feeling accepted by peers and dropped out of extracurricular activities. Mary Ann sought help from schools, churches, counselors, and friends. She learned others did not know how to help, did not have time to help, or were just to overwhelmed with their own personal lives. Being determined to find answers, she began attending parenting and psychological workshops. Ultimately, she made a decision to pursue a degree in counseling, thinking she could learn how to help her children. From this journey grew her passion to do what she could to help other families and their children.
In 2003, Dr. Sartori opened Family and Youth Institute LLC (FYI) as a single therapist practice and worked with two or three clients weekly while she was employed fulltime as a school counselor. Quickly, it became evident she could not meet the community’s needs alone. She needed therapists with a variety of specialties to help couples, families, youth and adolescents, and individuals from all walks of life. For 20 years, FYI served hundreds of clients in The Woodlands, Spring, and Conroe areas. After 20 years managing FYI, Mary Ann decided she would sell the company but continue to see a few clients each week.
When the new owners moved, Mary Ann realized she was still passionate about her work. Seeing a few clients a week again grew. From her continued passion to help others grew FYI New Beginnings Counseling PLLC.
So look for the “glimmers” in your life, and choose adventures over nightmares. You never know when something (or someone) SUPER will FLY into your life.
With over 25 years of combined experience as a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Certified School Counselor, and a parent, Dr. Mary Ann Sartori has walked the walk and can talk the talk of parents struggling with difficult youth and adolescents, couples experiencing challenges navigating relationships while balancing daily living demands, and individuals feeling overwhelmed or depressed. She can related to those suffering from depression, grief, and loss and understand the pain of addiction. Mary Ann can empathize with caregivers and clients struggling with illness and age-related issues. Since families and individuals are different, Dr. Sartori seeks creative solutions for client success. Whether it is life coaching, mental health counseling, psychoeducation, or parent training, she is dedicated to helping clients meet their goals and thrive in their daily lives. FYI New Beginnings offers both Telehealth and Face-to-Face services.
